Food and friends!
July 25, 2009
In this experiment we see how important it is to include food… here’s a photo of Granville Island from the lonely bench where I am sitting…
- Granville Island Square – lovely but unwelcoming
And here’s the same scene, but with the addition of a giant apricot-almond rugelach… people are starting to come towards me already! (and pigeons too)

Granville Island Square with Giant Apricot-Almond Rugelach! Notice the interest!
okay, so it’s a little silly… but one of the things that we’ve noticed is how the dynamics of anything change as soon as you put food on the table! you don’t even need to eat it; just having a place of cookies or a bowl of fruit reduces the tension and increases the potential for communication.
“The bird, a nest; the spider, a web; man, friendship.” William Blake
