Government gets hip with social media
Does that title make sense? I’m not that hip…
Community Living BC, a crown corporation that is responsible for community living services, has created a new website that brings together a few of the modern social media tools. http://www.startwithhi.ca is a website for a campaign to get people with disabilities more welcomed in their communities. Their suggestion is, when you see someone who is a little different, start with Hi. You never know where your conversation may go, but if you say nothing, you know it won’t go anywhere.
The Start with Hi website also tracks any use of www.startwithhi.ca on twitter. I tweeted “saw a great new site – http://www.startwithhi.ca ” and my tweet showed up on their website. How do they do that?
They have youtube clips of people telling stories about Starting with Hi. They have links to Flickr, to Twitter and of course they have a Facebook page.
Do you know of other examples of government agencies actually pulling off a good social media site?
it’s a thing of beauty. i’m thinking it could only be Jule Hopkins behind it… their hidden (well, not very well hidden) genius…
In my community/network, Ernie, you are as hip as it can be.
