Remember to Smile!
July 26, 2009
A contribution from our friend Bobbi Hoadley of Parley Services:
I worked with a man who did not seem very friendly because he didn’t smile. He was so worried about making friends that he looked worried and unhappy when he was with people. He taught himself to smile at people by putting a smiley face on the back of his hand, with a stamp pad every day for three weeks. He practiced his smile whenever he saw it on his hand. He also practiced in the mirror to figure out what a friendly smile looked like. Once he was happy with his smile and could make a smile when he wanted to, he reminded himself to smile when he met new people or was socializing with people. He told me, “That really works! People are nicer and I feel better.”

Richard has a smile that lights up a room - you can't help but smile back!
