Two Boys, True Friendship

July 26, 2009

Check out this youtube video about two preschoolers and the friendship they share:

We often wish we could go back in time with some of the folks we support, and create (or seize)opportunities for them to connect with other children when they were young.  Too often we meet people in their twenties or thirties who have no connection to the people they knew, or might have known, in school.  It’s such a natural place for friendships to develop.  The benefits of inclusion for children with disabilities are obvious, but as this clip shows, diversity enriches us all.  Imagine a whole generation of kids growing up seeing their peers as friends first, or like Bo, not even noticing disability.

That was really sweet. I wish it was as easy for adults.
