Spectrum Society’s “101 Friends” Personal Support Network Project began three years ago with a small six month CLBC grant and a vision of supporting folks with disabilities to expand and deepen their connections in their communities.
We’ve learned so much from the folks we’ve talked to, their families, friends, the teams and agencies that support them, and have been able to meet with and talk to more than 1600 people all around the province. We’ve also been gratified to connect with and host events with leaders in the area of community connection, like David Pitonyak and Jayne Barrett; stay in touch for upcoming events with David, John Lord and Michael Kendrick in 2010.

“If we are to achieve a richer culture, rich in contrasting values, we must recognize the whole gamut of human potentialities, and so weave a less arbitrary social fabric, one in which each diverse human gift will find a fitting place.”
