A little update from Spectrum Consulting’s Vancouver Next Chapter Book Club

August 30, 2014

Screen Shot 2014-08-31 at 12.16.10 AMThe Next Chapter book club model comes out of Chicago and is now in three countries.  Our book club started one and half books ago and is going strong under the volunteer leadership of Dr Susan Powell, some dedicated readers and friends.   There are just a few rules for Next Chapter book clubs – one is that the book club has to meet in public places where people are perceived to be readers, thinking about what they are reading.  Our book club meets at the Grind, one of Vancouver’s favourite meeting spots and coffee houses – we really appreciate their support and if you are in the area, drop by for a coffee and treat at 4124 Main Street and tell them thanks for their support for inclusion 🙂

Another rule is that the folks who do the reading choose their book club books together, and there’s no pre-requirement for any reading level.   In our club we also purchase books for everyone so that no one is turned away.

Right now there’s a lot of excitement about The London Eye Mystery – for some people it’s their first mystery and they’re figuring out how to figure out “whodunnit.”

You can read more about Next Chapter book clubs here.  If you’re interested in joining a fun gang of readers once a week for about an hour and a half, please leave a message at our office (604-323-1433) and someone will get back to you with more information.

Look for an exciting update next month!
